This is a place where I share about our homesteading journey, practical tips on intentional parenting, natural wellness, and my love for wholesome and delicious home cooked meals. (And, how to do all of this on a budget.)
I am the wife to hard working husband who is absolutely the rock to our family. Together, we have been blessed with 3 wonderful children: 1 boy and 2 girls. We live on 36 beautiful acres in Texas where we are in the process (always) of building our dream homestead.
For years, we have dreamt of what our homestead would look like and the work it would take to get there. We had a whole list of “some day” plans. One day, we woke up and decided no more “some day,” and started making our dreams happen one small project at a time.
I was a speech therapist for 6 years after graduating from college at Stephen F. Austin State University. When we had our third baby, we made the decision for me to stay home full time with our babies. That was, without a doubt, the best decision our family ever made. The memories we are making together will forever hold a special place in my heart.
In addition to homesteading, my passions include:
- cooking delicious and nutritious meals and eating them together as a family
- natural wellness and creating a nontoxic home
- making every moment with my kids intentional and memorable for them
- budgeting and paying off debt
- doing just about everything differently than the majority of society
A few random facts about me:
- I am barefoot 90% of the time, even in winter (and so are my kids.)
- We delivered our third baby in the car (6 weeks early). She was born “en caul” and it was amazing.
- I have had a lobe of my left lung removed in 2016 but, that’s a story for another day.
- My senior year in high school, I competed in the state track meet for discus.
- Growing up, I played competitive softball and always intended to play in college. However, my senior year of high school I decided to play volleyball in college.
- I grew up in the country on several hundred acres and my family always raised beef cattle. I thought that would give me the experience I needed on our homestead now, but turns out raising grass fed, organic cattle is completely different from raising them the traditional way. So, basically, I guess you could say I have no experience in this area .
